Key Features
Product Ref: 100399
The Pittsburgh Modular Lifeforms Mod Tools module features 4 main sections. The first is the Multi-Function sections which is a voltage controlled slope generator. This flexible circuit can function as either a voltage controlled envelope, LFO, oscillator, slew, envelop follower and more providing a vast amount of modulation possibilities. There is also attenuverters for adjusting the rise and fall of modulation, and also separate rise and fall rotary knobs for controlling rise/attack time and fall/decay time of the envelope or LFO. The slew capability allows keyboard portamento which is a great way to humanise synths.
This section is used for mixing but can also be used to create interesting modulation or wave shaping options. The Analog Logic is a 2 channel mixer with a standard unity gain mix as well as analog 'or' logic output. The 'or' logic outputs the current highest positive only voltage from either of the inputs creating some interesting modulation option. Patching audio signals through the 'or' output creates a half-rectified waveform. Mixer channel A input jack it normalled to the Multi-Function output jack, whilst channel B input jack is normalled to the Modulation sine output jack.
This section of the Mod Tools is an all analog noise source paired with a sample and hold circuit to achieve truly random stepped CV signals. By applying a square wave oscillator a straight forward sample rate reduction effect can be achieved.
The modulation section is a free running LFO with a frequency control to sweep through the LFO range and square and sine wave outputs for choosing LFO shape.
