Explore deeper FM synthesis
HALion 7 introduces the new FM Zone, developed alongside Yamaha, bringing authentic eight-operator FM synthesis into a modern production environment. Freely configure operators as carriers, route them through feedback loops, and build custom algorithms using the integrated Algorithm Designer and Algorithm Finder. Support for DX7, TX81Z, and SYX file import makes it easy to revisit classic FM sounds while creating entirely new textures. The included FM Lab expands these capabilities further with dedicated presets, modulation options, an arpeggiator, and a streamlined interface that makes advanced FM programming much more approachable.
Transform samples with advanced sound design
The Spectral Zone features a newly developed time-stretch and resynthesis engine that lets you alter playback speed independently of pitch while maintaining natural results. Push it further with formant shifting, spectral filtering, purity controls, inharmonicity adjustments, and spectrum hold functions to create completely new timbres from existing recordings. HALion 7 also introduces sample decomposition, allowing you to separate tonal and noise components for independent processing. Combined with advanced wavetable synthesis supporting up to 1,024 waves and multichannel files up to 5.1 surround, it offers exceptional flexibility for detailed sound creation.
Faster workflows with intuitive modulation
Creating movement throughout your sounds is quicker thanks to HALion 7's redesigned modulation system. Simply click a parameter to assign modulation instantly, drag and drop modulation sources into place, and move directly between sources and destinations for fast editing. Built-in visual feedback makes complex routings much easier to understand. The updated User Envelope includes brush, pen, and eraser tools for drawing custom shapes, while the new Shaper mode cycles through envelope shapes in sync with your DAW, opening up creative rhythmic modulation without interrupting your workflow.
Decompose
You can now split every sample into its tonal and noise components directly in HALion, opening the door to a whole new world of sound design. Combine the tonal part of an electric piano with the attack of a guitar sample. Separate the noise part of a recording and send it through a unique effects chain, while keeping the tone as clean as possible. This is not only great for creating unique sounds, but also a complete tool for building new kinds of libraries.
What's new in HALion 7
HALion 7 brings together a wide range of new instruments, creative tools, and workflow improvements in a single update. FM Lab provides a dedicated workspace for modern FM synthesis, while Tales introduces a deeply sampled guitar layered with acoustic and synthesised textures for expressive compositions. A redesigned interface and updated MediaBay improve navigation, and the new pitch-shift and time-stretch algorithm delivers natural results even during extreme processing. Advanced wavetable synthesis now supports multichannel files with individual spectral filtering for each wave, and Lua scripting continues to provide developers with extensive control for building custom instruments, interfaces, and sample libraries.
