The Hexinverter Galilean Moons Dual VCA and Function Generator is a compact Eurorack module designed primarily for creating percussive sounds. The Galilean Moons is comprised of two voltage controlled envelopes. The envelopes are normalised and routed to their own low-distortion linear, DC-couple voltage controlled amplifiers. Each envelope provides you with percussive attack and decay controls. The envelopes themselves can be toggled between linear or exponential modes for added flexibility. It can also be used as an expansion module, when used in conjunction with the Jupiter Storm module, opening up a new noise output – the XOR.
A wide range of modulation control is included, comprised of precision attenuators as well as two and three-position switches. Each of the ‘Moon’ channels provide you with attack and decay controls as well as a plus/minus Bias attenuator. The Bias controls are used to zero out the VCAs when no envelope is active. You can switch between linear or exponential mode via the two-position switch to the right of the Bias attenuator. The three-position switch to the left of the Bias control is used for switching between the 3 modes of operation for each envelope. The modes are as follows: Attack/Decay, Attack/Sustain/Release and looping (LFO mode). The voltage controlled envelopes and VCAS can be used independently in your own modular system for added flexibility.
As well as providing precision attenuators, the Galilean Moons module provides with a wide variety of analog and CV connections. The dual-channel configurations include symmetrical analog connections providing you with a set of connections for each channel. The EG connections allows you to use the envelope anywhere else in your system, independent of the module. The VCA CV connections allows you to use other envelopes/voltages in your system. A VCA input is also included, allowing you to plug in an external audio source to the module, breaking the normalisation to Jupiter Storm. The XOR output is activated when connected the Hexinverter Jupiter Storm module, allowing you to use an audio source elsewhere in your system.
