The Shure SM7dB Active Dynamic Microphone brings together the legendary sound of the SM7B and the convenience of a built-in active preamp. At the heart of the SM7dB is a built-in active preamp that delivers up to +28 dB of low-noise, transparent gain. With selectable +18 dB and +28 dB boost settings, the microphone can achieve strong recording levels when connected directly to compatible audio interfaces and mixers. This reduces the need for external gain boosters while maintaining the microphone's natural character. If preferred, the preamp can be bypassed completely for classic SM7B operation.
The SM7dB preserves everything engineers, broadcasters and content creators love about the original. Its dynamic moving-coil design delivers a smooth, warm and detailed sound suitable for speech, vocals and a wide variety of recording applications. The cardioid polar pattern focuses on the source while helping to reduce unwanted room noise and off-axis sound.

The bass roll-off switch helps reduce low-frequency rumble from environmental sources such as air conditioning systems and traffic noise, while the presence boost setting adds extra clarity and definition in the mid-range frequencies to help vocals stand out in a mix.
