Powerful tone with no compromise

The WAV5 uses NS Design’s Polar™ Pickup System, giving you articulate sound without the usual electric noise. You can switch between lateral (for bowing) and vertical (for pizzicato) sensitivity with a toggle, making this cello highly adaptable. It’s fully passive, with no need for batteries, and includes simple rotary controls for volume and treble roll-off.

Designed for effortless playability

The cello features a specially shaped fingerboard that makes shifting across all five strings easier, especially in higher positions. Dot markers help you stay in tune visually, and the slim body design means you’re never restricted when moving your hands or bow. It’s ideal for players transitioning from traditional cellos or exploring new techniques.

Tailor the feel to your playing

Bridge height and neck relief are easily adjustable, letting you find the right setup quickly without needing professional help. This means you can change the feel depending on your string choice, tuning, or playing style. The WAV5 supports standard 5-string cello tuning (F-C-G-D-A), and can also be set up with high E tuning if needed.

Coform™ fingerboard

The Coform™ fingerboard is designed to provide ultimate playability. It combines a traditional maple core with a durable high-tech acrylic layer, offering a smooth, matte black surface that mimics the look of ebony. This innovative build provides less friction than wood, enabling quicker finger movement and improved playability. Its consistent thickness and precisely shaped profile not only enhance comfort but also stabilise the neck against changes in temperature and humidity. Sonically, the Coform fingerboard strengthens low frequencies and extends highs, delivering a more dynamic and articulate tone with excellent sustain.
