Clear, low-latency audio from a 96kHz FPGA core
The QU-6 is powered by Allen & Heath’s XCVI engine, a 96kHz FPGA processing core that delivers smooth audio with near-zero latency. This platform gives users responsive, high-definition sound while running complex mixes across multiple outputs. The 36 input channels are processed cleanly and efficiently, even when loaded with EQ, dynamics and FX.
With 12 mix outputs and four matrix buses, the QU-6 is ideal for managing foldback, FX sends, groups and zone feeds. Each channel includes comprehensive processing with parametric EQ, gating and compression. The sound stays consistent and tight across a wide range of sources and setups.
Fast, hands-on control with touchscreen and motorised faders
The 7” capacitive touchscreen provides an intuitive, menu-free interface for working with channel settings, FX, routing, and meters. Navigation is simple with swipe, tap and drag gestures, reducing menu-diving and making real-time changes quick and stress-free. This is key when operating live sound under pressure.
The 25 motorised faders follow your selections across four customisable layers. They also respond to scene changes and DCA groups for fast mix adjustments. Eight SoftKeys provide instant access to common functions like mute groups, tap tempo or scene recall, helping streamline your workflow during setup and performance.
Expandable I/O for flexible system design
The QU-6 includes a built-in SLink port, offering flexible expansion for a variety of setups. You can connect existing 48kHz dSnake stageboxes (AR2412, AB168, AR84) or move to high-resolution DX and GX series expanders. This lets users scale the system up without needing to change console hardware.
Local I/O covers most needs out of the box. There are 24 mic/line XLR/TRS combi inputs, two stereo TRS pairs, and a talkback input. On the output side, you’ll find 16 XLR outs, two TRS outs, an AES3 stereo digital output and a headphone socket. Four matrix channels add routing flexibility for sends to press feeds, recorders or additional PA zones.
Built-in multitrack recording and playback
The QU-6 features three ways to record and play back multitrack audio: USB-C, USB-A and SD card. The USB-C port acts as a 32x32 audio interface for use with DAWs, while the SD card and USB-A ports support multitrack recording/playback directly on the mixer with no computer required. Files are saved in standard WAV format for easy transfer and editing.
You can use this flexibility for virtual soundchecks, live session capture or redundancy backups during events. With support for up to 32x32 tracks at 48kHz or 16x16 at 96kHz, the QU-6 is ready for high-resolution recording on demand. This makes it a reliable tool both for front-of-house duties and post-production workflows.
Built-in FX, automation and helpful tools
The QU-6 has six FX engines, with presets ready for reverb, delay, modulation and more. Each FX engine includes a dedicated return channel and built-in routing, so you don’t need to sacrifice input channels or outputs. Updates will continue to expand the FX selection, bringing more power and flexibility over time.
Helpful features like the 32-channel Automatic Mic Mixer (AMM) improve gain-sharing for speech applications. The built-in Gain Assistant and Feedback Assistant speed up system setup and improve sound stability during events. These tools make it easier to deliver consistent results, even with minimal setup time or changing input sources.
